Tools and Toys
The tools of BDSM play encompass a wide variety of items from specifically designed implements to ordinary household items.
Explore your kitchen and use your imagination (ever considered what you could do with clothes pegs?); then consider DIY stores, toy shops, sports shops, hobby shops and the supermarket you shop in every week. When browsing for your weekly groceries, why not consider ‘alternative’ uses for what you see on the shelves!
Candles are often used to drip hot wax on a writhing submissive, but you should note that standard household candles made from paraffin wax can produce extreme heat, melting at around 54 to 57 degrees Celsius. You could use candles supplied by stationary stores to produce wax seals or soft candles in glass jars (called votive candles), which usually have mineral oil in their blend and burn cooler at around 49 degrees Celsius. Raising the height of a candle (increasing the drop distance) will also reduce the temperature by about 5 degrees every meter.
If the idea of cuffs, ropes, candles and whips seems a little too much for you when first venturing into BDSM play, why not consider the more ‘traditional’ sex-toys? This is a major industry and there are thousands of products to choose from.
Just consider the idea of teasing your partner with an array of implements designed to stimulate and arouse. Laying out a range of ‘tools’ within sight of your bound partner and applying significant thought in your selection will only server to heighten their arousal further and add to the tease factor.
You might just find that the presentation of a ‘gift’ may be the only idea you need to let your partner know you have more interesting thoughts. Don’t assume that products traditionally designed for women won’t work equally well on men. If you are a woman that knows the sensual sensation of a vibrator then you should know how it will feel when gently applied to your man’s sensitive zones!
The number and variety of sex-toys is endless and we suggest you go to our recommendations and links pages for an insight as to what might appeal to you and your partner.
